The Christmas function this year will be held on Thursday 6 December, at Bells Hotel & Brewery, at 157 Moray Street, South Melbourne. Costs of $15 per head (members & partners), and $20 per head (non-members) include lots of finger food. Drinks are at bar prices. Come along and mix with your peers.

OpenOffice.org is an open source, community-developed, multi-platform office productivity suite. It includes the key desktop applications, such as a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation manager, and drawing program, with a user interface and feature set similar to other office suites. Sophisticated and flexible, OpenOffice.org also works transparently with a variety of file formats, including Microsoft Office.

Open Publish will be held in Sydney on the 1-3 August, 2007. This conference covers a range of issues relating to publishing technology based on open standards. Content management, single-sourcing data, wikis and blogs will be discussed from the perspective of best practices, project methodologies, usability factors. Professionals involved in any aspect of publishing environments are invited to attend.

Technical communicators are professional writers, editors and illustrators who produce a range of documentation for business, technology and manufacturing.
